A quick Trip to the Beach

One Saturday we packed up a picnic and headed to the beach for the day. Just us..our little family :) It was nice to just be us again and reconnect. It was chilly, cloudy and misty but we didn't mind. We enjoyed sometime on the beach and walked through "Marshes Free Museum". (Liberty had never been before.) We ate supper out at a little place there then headed back home. It was a blessed day!

We stopped for a picnic on the way down

20 Years!

20 years ago I became a wife! I married the man of my prayers! As I walked down the aisle that day I thought I could never love someone so much...little did I know that I married a stranger. Oh I knew him and loved him the most I could then..but time and life has made so I love him even more today! He is my best friend, my lover, my soul mate, my everything!! What an amazing 20 years it has been! It has not been perfect but God sure has blessed us! Each trial has brought us closer to each other and to God. I thank God for bringing me the perfect mate for ME! My prayer is that we have another 20 years together and 20 more after that!! :)

Here we are on our 20 year Anniversary getaway :) Hiking in Leavenworth WA.

Childhood Memories...

When I was around 3 years old my brothers Jonathan and Casey and I would go to work with my dad. He worked on my Uncle and Aunts dairy farm. Mom would pack us a lunch with sandwiches, carrots, celery and canned pears or peaches. Then we would rise early and head down to the farm with dad. We mostly rode around with him in the tractor while he mowed or plowed. It was a tractor with a cab on it. I remember feeling so proud to be a farmers daughter! We would go round and round that field and sometimes we would doze off but it was so relaxing and fun! At lunch time we would either stop and sit on a log or on the ground to eat. Sometimes we would go into my aunts house and sit in her kitchen to eat. Eating a packed lunch was so much fun! One time dad gave me a bite of something to eat and I was shocked..it had a spicy hot flavor!( Little did I know it was a raw radish! J ) I remember dad laughing at the face I made.

Also when I was 3 years old my sister Mindy was born. I remember my Aunt April babysitting us older kids and the house was so clean and quiet. I can’t remember who brought us but we got brought to the hospital to see Mindy. I remember being picked up and showed a baby lying in a crib in the hospital nursery. The day mom and baby came home I sat at the dining room window all morning waiting. When the red station wagon pulled in I remember shouting “they are here, They are here” and running to the garage to see them. Mom got out of the car holding a bundle. Mom always told me my mouth fell open and I said “it’s a baby?!” She figured I hadn’t fully understood that the baby was coming home to live!J

Starting probably around the age of 4 years old I would go with mom to the garden and walk up and down the rows. The earth would be hard packed and cool beneath my feet. It seemed that the green bean bushes were reaching to the sky! I always loved spending time outside especially with mom. One summer evening dad and others were out on the berry picker machine working and I was in the house with mom, Missy and Mindy. I must of said I was bored or something because mom decided to play with us girls. We sat on the sunken living room stairs and mom pretended to drive a car. In our imagination we stopped for ice cream and watched the beautiful scenery go by. The sun was setting in the west and the evening was warm. I remember hearing the hum of the berry picker as it went up and down the berry rows.

I always loved going outside to play in the summers…running around barefoot with soft dusty dirt between my toes. We would search for hours for “diamonds”in the dirt. One time I thought I really had found one and brought it to mom to replace her diamond in her wedding band that she had lost. She smiled sweetly at me and said it wouldn’t work. We would run up and down the berry rows barefoot and picking berries. Another time when I was 4 years old and my brother Casey was 5 years old, Casey decided to teach me how to drive the tractor. (he had been driving since he was 4) So off we went. I was trying to stand on the brake and Casey was steering…but oops, we drove down one whole post of berries! Dad came running and jumped up on the tractor and stopped it. Dad wasn’t to happy and I remember thinking I didn’t understand why because we were just trying to help. Also in the summer us kids went camping. I think the first time was when Casey was 9 years old, I was 8 years old , Missy 6 yrs. , Mindy 5 yrs and Jeremy was 3 yrs. Old. We went down into the woods on the back corner of the property and set up our pup tent. We brought sleeping bags and food along in our red wagon. Casey slept on one side and me on the other with the little kids between. Casey had his one pump BB gun and I had a stick for protection J Anyways during the night a pack of coyotes came and made a circle around our tent. Casey and I sat up with our stick and BB gun to keep us all safe. The next day we made a house around our tent with rocks and stick for the outline. Mindy got hurt and we went and picked berries and smashed them up and gave them to her. J We figured that would help. Mom came down sometime and checked on us and I remember showing her our “home”. That was the beginning of many camping trips. We would use berry picking money each year to buy camping gear and food. It was so fun planning and dreaming of what we would buy. Aww…I can close my eyes and be there again! J

more to come! :)

Memories of my Grandpa and Grandma Warnke

My kids are always wanting me to write down memories from my childhood. This morning I got sharing some stories of my grandparents so figured I would try write some down. Here it goes.

I grew up on a red raspberry farm just up the hill from my grandparents home. The farm was part of Grandpa and Grandma's original farm. They had orchards full of fruit and they always had a garden. I spent much of my young years down at their house. My brother Casey and I (and my sisters too)would spend hours playing in their play house or out in their woods. Some of my earliest memories are of being babysat by them while my mom and dad went Christmas shopping. Grandma always did puzzles with us and served us ice cream. Grandpa would sit in his chair reading with just one lamp on. I remember my mom calling and asking me about me wanting a "My Little Pony" for Christmas and if I would be ok with a little one instead of the big one I was dreaming of. The house was dark, cozy and quiet as I talked to my mom on the phone (she called from a pay phone). We siblings spent hours down at their house playing...going out to the mud puddles and filling little dishes with water and bringing grass into the play house to "cook". :) I remember pretending to vacuum with Grandma's old Kirby vacuum head. As far back as I can remember I was a dreamer, dreaming of being a pioneer like Laura Ingalls. Grandpa and Grandma's house was so fun...they had a wooden staircase that led up to 3 bedrooms and a hallway with built-in drawers for putting clothes in. Grandma always kept her old purses in there for us to play with. I would go lay on her beds that were covered in bed spreads made just so neat and I would dream of living there back in the "olden days". In the summer the upstairs was always warm and there would be fans going. It felt so perfect to me! Grandpa and Grandma were always busy, either in the garden or the orchards or out in my dads berry field pruning the berries. Grandma wore dresses everyday but when she worked outside she would put on her dark blue work pants and a straw hat. Grandpa seemed to always wear a cap. They also always went for walks everyday around our berry field. They may have been retired but they never stopped working. They were always so full of love and patience..never getting angry at us even when we were naughty. I remember one time visiting Grandma while she hung clothes on the line and I showed her that I had put clear fingernail polish on and she wasn't very happy. She said she didn't think Jesus liked it very well and I told her Jesus didn't care and that nail polish made your finger nails strong. She didn't think so but just lovingly told me she didn't agree. (I was kinda of a sassy little girl) In my memories Grandpa is always quietly working , reading or listening to Baseball on their radio that sat on their kitchen counter. I remember Grandpa drinking his coffee and his hand shook. He would sit at the counter and drink coffee and read the newspaper. Grandma would be in the kitchen baking or cooking. If I remember right Grandpa never drank milk?? Not 100% sure on that but there is something about that in my memory. Casey and I would go stay the night down there quite often. I remember stacking our red flyer wagon full of sleeping bags and clothes and my housecoat. We would go stay there and sleep on their hide-a-bed couch. We would tell Grandma we couldn't sleep then she would bring us an aspirin crushed on a spoon with sugar and say "there now go to sleep". One time Casey and I woke before the sun was even up and stood at Grandpa and Grandma's bedroom door listening to them snore. We headed outside then and stood in the yard with out bare feet all wet with dew. Grandma came out and asked why we were up so early. Another time Casey and I stayed the night with Grandma because Grandpa was in the hospital. We sat up doing puzzles with her and I remember Grandpa calling to say goodnight. I can still see us sitting at the table doing the puzzle...yellow curtains on the dining room windows and only the light above the table on and Grandma standing next to the doorway that went into the kitchen talking on the phone to Grandpa. When I was almost 7 years old my little brother Jeremy had open heart surgery. During the week that my mom and dad were in the hospital with him we siblings stayed at Grandpa and Grandma's. We caught the bus to school from their house. I wore the same dress everyday..not ever changing it or letting Grandma wash it. My sisters and I slept in the downstairs bedroom. Towards the end of the week I was convinced that Mom and Dad were coming home so I told our bus driver (Mrs. B) to drop us off at our house instead of Grandpa and Grandma's. When we got off the bus we met Grandpa in the yard coming down with more clothes for us kids. Mom and Dad wouldn't be coming home that day after all. I was so sad. Grandpa got me clean dress but I refused to change into it. Grandpa and Grandma were such a huge blessing in my life! They were always there..always so kind and loving. I will never forget them. I am sure I have more memories but for now I need to go clean my house and I am also babysitting today. :) So anyways hope you all enjoyed it and for my kids sake I will try write down more memories. :) Memories of my childhood that they seem to think was so neat ;) Of course it was..life has it's hardships but my childhood is full of great memories! God has been good to me!!

And so it Begins....

Last night we said our goodbye's to Chet. He is leaving today to Texas. Others have already left..Trent and Tessa, Blake and Leann and of course Denny and Shara left back in November. BUT to have the boss leave makes it really hit home. He is bringing all his clothes with him, his car in a trailer packed with stuff, pickup, camper, a freezer full of meat, his tool box, washer and dryer and more. He will only be flying back to help pack up more stuff ....as of now he will be gone a month or so. Carla is still here, her and Allecia and Sharleen will be not moving until Memorial Day weekend(so Allecia can finish up the school year). The plan is to go to the church campout then leave after to TX. I was fairly emotional last night. Leon has worked for Chet for 10 years now...plus this is his Aunt and Uncle. We have spent our Friday evenings there for sauna now for years. Our kids aren't real happy about them moving. Felicity and Liberty will take it probably the hardest. Sharleen and Felicity have been friends since birth, same for Liberty and Allecia . As a mom it is not fun watching your kids lose their friends. Hard to believe Mike and Missy left 2 years ago already...life must go on. Sometimes that's what is hard to accept. Anyways kinda crazy that this is really happening. Tommy and Jana will be moving down in probably the next month or so and Garret and Krista for sure by June. Also Darren and Gwen are more then likely moving down there also. Oh and Randy and Heather are possibly too. Randy is flying down on March 12th to work and will be there a month or more then Heather will fly there and check it out and if they both like it they will be moving there too.  Leon is in full swing of running Hi-Mark now. If you think of it say a prayer for him please. Not only is it kinda stressful running a business but he is losing a good friend/Uncle too. Maybe someday we will actually go visit TX ??? We never make it to NH so it's pretty doubtful we will make it to TX though.
Well guess I will go start our day...its one of those days where nothing feels right though......If I can ever find pictures on my computer maybe I will do a picture post sometime soon. :)

Hello :)

Leon and I went to a  Fernando Ortega concert Friday evening. Boy was that fun! Fernando was so down to earth and funny too. It felt like we were sitting in someone's living room (almost). He would tell stories and then sing a song or two then tell some more stories. It was at a church that seated 900 people but it wasn't loud or anything. They served snacks before the concert and during a 10 minute break. They had veggie trays, fruit trays and trays of cheese, meat and crackers. They also served ice water and coffee. We had a lot of fun!! I would recommend going to anyone if you ever have the chance. We learned Fernando and his wife adopted a baby girl but then after 2 weeks the mother changed her mind and they had to give her back :( A song called " If You Were Mine" was written by Fernando for her right after she was taken. He said that was when he turned gray. We also learned they had their first and only child 6 years ago. His wife was 47 years old and he was 51 years old. He said they feel so blessed that God gave her to them even though they were older. He told many funny stories too. :) After the concert we went and stayed in a motel. We had so much fun...we ended up doing a little Bible study together..one of our best times ever going away for a night!
Our 20 year Anniversary is this May but sadly it is looking like we won't be able to do anything special for it:( I was so hoping and praying it would work out but we have SO much debt! Oh well..that is life! I will just cherish this little date we had and thank God for it! :)
Hi-Mark bought Leon a pick-up to drive now! So we sold our pick-up and are keeping our eye's peeled for a small car. It would be SO nice if we had a car Felicity could drive for work then I could have my van back ;) Also it would save gas money to drive it to get groceries etc. Felicity works 1-3 days a week and even though I don't go anywhere much it sure would be nice to be ABLE to IF I wanted to :) Leon's pick-up is super nice. I rode in a couple of times and it's nice an roomy! :) So Leon continues to run Hi-Mark...Chet has been in TX as well as some of the guys. They have 2 jobs there. Leann and Blake are moving down to TX in less then 2 weeks and Tommy is for sure..not 100% sure if Jana and girls are going with him right away?? Chet and Carla are hoping to be there this spring. Garret and Krista and Trent and Tessa(probably) all plan to move there sometime too. So as some of the guys move, Leon is a little short handed! So if any of you know of anyone needing work send them his way ;)
I know I could of just sent an e-mail out since it is only family who read this but for some reason every time I sit down to do an e-mail I have nothing to say :p So let's see...school is still going good. We may be graduating LaKaysha at the end of this year. I wrote down our requirements on what she needs to do before she can graduate and she has been working on that. Daminika, Chancy and Liberty are doing well too. Though I have enjoyed what we are doing this year for school work I am looking into some changes for next year. Guess that's the pleasures of homeschooling..getting to change things up a bit whenever we decide! :)
Well that's a little update on us all! I pray you are all doing well in your lives! May we all continue to look to Jesus for our all in all and may He guide us all! God's Peace!
  Love~ Elisa :)

What we are up to..

The past weekend was not at all like normal. We got snow Thursday that led to Leon coming home early! That NEVER happens! He was home Friday through the weekend. We spent most of our day Friday over at Carson and Mindy's sledding. Mindy and I even went down together a couple of times.. :) We had lots of fun. It was nice to have a change of pace. Saturday was spent at home..Leon and kids played out in the snow. I didn't get to go out since we did not have enough snow clothes. Marissa went out too so that left me in the house. Sunday church was canceled and we kind a lazed around. Then Leon, myself, Liberty and Chancy went out and started building a snow fort. LaKaysha and Daminika joined us. (Felicity wasn't feeling well..she has a cough, chills etc.) Sunday was the first we could build a snow fort as the snow was just powder all the other days. Saturday evening and Sunday evenings were spent watching " America's Wars". We are really enjoying the series. We discovered that William Clarks older brother George Rogers Clark captured a bunch of forts during the "French and Indian War" :) This is a series we bought from Cabela's that covers all the wars of America up to 2004.
Today we are back in the swing of things, doing school. We are beginning a new chapter in Farmer Boys unit study. We will be making soap sometime. I look forward to that. (I still need to order a soap base though and soap molds) I got bread rising. Monday is normally our bread baking day. The girls and I take turns making it. Today was my turn. Leon is back at work. He made it safely to the office before freezing rain started coming down. They are expecting it to warm up a lot today though and melt the ice.
I am hoping to run down to town tomorrow. I need to grab ingredients to make pasty. LaKaysha wants pasty for her birthday. She will be 16 on weds. !! Crazy! I am also hoping to buy myself some under garments :) I am very much in need of them! Thanks to Clarissa I will be able to get some. (she paid us for babysitting last week) I never go down to town during the day..pretty much ever! Praying it goes well. I still fight anxiety a little with driving. THANK THE LORD I am much better though!!!
Maybe I will post some snow pictures real soon. Gotta get my girls help on that :p
Hope this finds you all well! God's peace!

I found a few pictures on the computer already of our snow! :)

2014

Another year has begun. We have been on Christmas break from school for the last almost 2 weeks. I am looking forward to beginning fresh and new again next week. I pray God continues to bless our time. A lot of things have happened to make me think...what is most important?? Have I taught my kids all they need to know to begin adult life?? Our oldest will be 18 in April!! Our oldest is a daughter so I think it is different then a son...She will remain under our roof and care until God provides a spouse for her...but she also needs to be ready for life. It seems even though I fret God is paving the way. With my sister having a "friend" it has made us talk and face lots. It has also made me think how I need to be sure daughter #2 and #3 are ready also. SO as we begin fresh next week I will be trying to focus on things I feel I have lacked in but want our children to be prepared for.
I will be having the kids learn more about cooking and baking, and I will also have our son learn how to clean the bathrooms. (I already started having him fold clothes with his sisters). I will also start training our youngest to do more weekly cleaning..(she has been vacuuming more and helping fold clothes). It has been so easy to let my oldest 3 girls just do all the weekly cleaning but I know that all of our children need to know. (Our son does vacuum and clean his own room) Our oldest has had a part time job for about a year and half now and has a bank account. So she has been dealing with some of the things that come with earning ,saving and spending money. I am hoping daughter #2 will be able to have little jobs here and there and get a bank account also. She has done checking etc. through schooling but real life teaches it so much better. She will be 16 next month!!! She will be getting her permit next month and will begin to learn to drive. I thank God that her daddy is so willing to teach that. That is something that stresses me so bad!( I am going to try to let the strings loosen a little on my almost 16 yr old and almost 18 yr old.) So hard! I am the nature to want my kids around me at all times. They are my life! I also know though that I can't keep them forever and I want them ready when God calls them to be completely loosened from their mommy and daddy! I can tell that daughter #3 is really trying to grow up...to gain her independence! She has started to be more involved with cleaning and organizing..I do see though that cooking is something she must not feel comfortable with as she kinda just stays out of it unless I ask her to help with supper etc. She has always enjoyed baking though. (but I will be teaching her how to make breads etc.) We have had some deep conversations with our kids lately it seems. About how as we grow older life has lots of ups and downs..how others have opinions of their own and how we need to let them. If something isn't a sin we need to let others have their opinions and we need to let it be. Its good to stand for things we believe in but also need to be careful that if something isn't a sin to just let it go. So anyways as you can tell LOTS of deep things on my mind!! Sorry if this is just a random post. I guess I felt I needed to write it all down and get it off my chest.... along with writing it down it helps me know better what I want from life! :) I have been feeling like such a failure as a mother lately so I think this will help to be able to go back and read what my goals are!

May God's peace be with you all!!
