Old Fashioned Taffy Pull

On Christmas Eve, we decided to try doing a "old fashioned taffy pull". We found a recipe that looked easy, with only a few ingredients. It was fun, and it even tasted pretty good! We pulled, and pulled, and pulled. When we tapped it on the counter, and it shattered across the kitchen, we knew it was done!
Here are a few pictures...

Pull, pull!

    1. Old Fashioned Taffy

      1 1/4 cups sugar
      1 1/2 cups butter
2 tblsp mild vinegar (we used white)
      1/4 cup water
      1/2 tsp vanilla

Over low heat, combine sugar, butter, vinegar and water. Stir until sugar dissolves.Cook quickly until a small bit dropped in cold water forms a hard ball. Add vanilla. pour sticky mess onto a marble slab or greased platter. When cool enough to handle make into a ball or balls. Then pull, pull and pull. :) when you tap it on the counter and it shatters it is then done :)
